Shaq Qassim

I’m a final-year Modern Languages (Japanese) and Translation Studies student at Cardiff University, passionate about language, culture, and building inclusive communities. My year abroad at the University of Kitakyushu deepened my connection to Japanese culture and inspired my focus on minority and indigenous groups, including the Ainu and LGBTQIA+ communities. Through roles with Pride Cymru, Creative Cardiff, and in both high-end and family-friendly hospitality, I’ve honed my skills in social media, community engagement, and people-focused work. I’m dedicated to preserving languages, amplifying underrepresented voices, and finding creative ways to connect people across cultures.
